“Dynamic Nuclear Polarization, a field of study in its own right, is a tool for building polarized targets... It is also a tool for another field of nuclear magnetism...”

A. Abragam*, M. Goldman. Nuclear Magnetism: Order and Disorder (1982)

In the thirty years since the writing of these lines, many other fields of nuclear magnetism have begun to incorporate some form of DNP, including solid-state CP-MAS NMR, high-resolution liquid-state NMR, metabolic MRI, and molecular MRI.

*Anatole Abragam passed away on June 8, 2011 at age of 96.
